sturmvogel (talk) 13:39, 6 July 2022 (UTC) The edit done by Psyca, to remove the proprietary part seems wrong. This should be undone as as the official description of the classic medias clearely state that they contain proprietary drivers. Even if you can chose to not install them. Or the complete rest of our documentations is wrong then...

Quote from the download page:

Classical Installation Flavours The Classical ISO is the traditional way to install Mageia directly. Take a look at the complete documentation for this installer.

Up to 167 locales are supported: Deutsch, English, Español, Français, Italiano, Português, Svenska, Nederlands, Polski, Dansk, Pусский and so much more! See the comprehensive list.

These ISOs contains Free Software and some proprietary drivers. You will be asked of which kind of Software you want to install. The installer includes the capability of adding the online Mageia repositories during the installation, which means you can install even more packages than those available on the ISO.

For 32 and 64bit, size of the ISOs is about 4.1GB.

sturmvogel (talk) 13:45, 6 July 2022 (UTC) It also contradicts the clear statement in [The Mageia repositories] that the nonfree media (with proprietary drivers) is enabled by default. So the claim that the classic ISO dosn't contain proprietary drivers is wrong and the change in the release notes should be undone...

papoteur (talk) 14:26, 6 July 2022 (UTC) You're right that the proprietary drivers are within the ISO. However the modification from Psyca doesn't say the opposite, it just omits to say it, and this is not false, just a question of taste.

sturmvogel (talk) 14:32, 6 July 2022 (UTC) The change says: Note: The traditional installer does not include proprietary drivers. This is not a matter of taste. It is clearly wrong.

Sorry to psyca. This part of the release notes was screwed by Vxern. See next comment.

sturmvogel (talk) 14:41, 6 July 2022 (UTC) This is absolutely wrong. You don't need web access to install e.g. Nvidia drivers or drivers for your network as they are already in the nonfree part of the ISO. So this needs to be reverted: Note: The traditional installer does not include proprietary drivers. Therefore, if you do wish to install proprietary drivers, you will need an internet connection to fetch the necessary packages during installation.

The change to this completely wrong edition was done by Vxern in Aug 2021 https://wiki.mageia.org/mw-en/index.php?title=Mageia_9_Release_Notes&oldid=52195

papoteur (talk) 15:00, 6 July 2022 (UTC) Yes, this modification is not from Psyca, on what I was focused. Yes, classical installer embeds proprietary drivers.

sturmvogel (talk) 15:13, 6 July 2022 (UTC) I reverted this part back to the same as it was with prior Mga releases.

It's really necessary add other term to the already confusing terminology for the repositories? (repository, media, source media; and now collection) --katnatek (talk) 20:32, 4 March 2023 (UTC)

sturmvogel (talk) 21:00, 4 March 2023 (UTC) This is another questionable change of Vxern done in 2021. I reverted (deleted) the term collection again.
