==========================

Edit the list of iso testers in Mageia wiki --> QA beforehand, and you are mailed the password. The list is here:

   https://wiki.mageia.org/en/QA_ISO_testers

In case you want to have them at a younger moment than that, please contact irc channel #mageia-qa on freenode.net and ask for access.

If you use Mageia 6 isos as base, rename them to 6.1 before you sync, so as to make as little use as needed of your own time and allowed Megabytes and avoid overly accessing the Mageia server. This is *not* necessary if you use either mageiasync [?] or myrsync.sh - see below.

Make sure you run these in a bash shell; they do not work in tcsh. $ echo $SHELL /bin/bash

Change directory to the place where you stored your ISOs, then use the commands below to rename them.

$ find . -type d -exec rename Mageia-6- Mageia-6.1-rc- {} + $ find . -type f -exec rename Mageia-6- Mageia-6.1-rc- {} +

and (if needed)

$ find . -type d -exec rename xfce4 Xfce {} + $ find . -type f -exec rename xfce4 Xfce {} +

$ ls -1 Mageia-6.1-i586-DVD/ Mageia-6.1-LiveDVD-GNOME-x86_64-DVD/ Mageia-6.1-LiveDVD-PLASMA5-x86_64-DVD/ Mageia-6.1-LiveDVD-Xfce-i586-DVD/ Mageia-6.1-LiveDVD-Xfce-x86_64-DVD/ Mageia-6.1-x86_64-DVD/

You should then end up with folders named as above, with correspondingly named files inside them.

For assistance downloading the isos there are (see https://wiki.mageia.org/en/ISO_testing_rsync_tools):

1. dorsync script: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/4147101/QA/dorsync # release="mageia6-rc" 2. the GUI package python-mageiasync, 3. and a script for doing just 1 ISO at a time (but you can do several in parallel), which requires NO local re-naming from release to release (as illustrated above): 'onesync' available from Lewis.

Kindly keep always the isos for simple rsync in the next round: it saves you data, time and Megabite usage, and would otherwise seriously reduce the Mageia server bandwidth. Same applies to M6 --> M7.

As requested in IRC some rsync commands for reference are here:

https://wiki.mageia.org/en/ISO_testing_rsync_tools "Rsync directly" section at the end.

Remember to create bug reports for issues you find and note the bug numbers in your comments here please. Bugs should be created against 'Cauldron' and please add '6RC' into the Whiteboard field so they are easy to track. Please report in full, not referring to this pad (this pad changes at every build, and more often than that: it is not constant).

Archived comments:

As requested on IRC, a simple procedure for archiving is https://wiki.mageia.org/en/Pre-release_ISO_testing#Maintaining_the_preliminary_notepad If you find the same remarks in build X and build X+1, you can easily copy and paste such remarks back to the current build data.

Testers & other visitors:

Please make a note here which ISO(s) you are testing / record your name or alias, to show your text colour, so authorship of all notes is obvious.this build:
