Rule on variants during the wallpaper and screensaver competition.

So that there is more diversity and that our best contributors who offer us excellent creations every year are highlighted, we will adopt new rules on "VARIATORS."

If you present the same image in different forms: shadows, colors, gradients, etc. and that on 15 images that look too similar or almost identical, you will be considered as a big contributor, in order to highlight your hard work.

You have submitted 14 images, they are variants of the image1.

During the 2nd vote, only 3 of your images will have the right to compete.

In order to have several authors, of diversity of colors of shapes and ideas, also for the additional pack attached to the official version of Mageia.

See the image below (the figures are given as examples):

  • The left column represents the 1st vote
  • The right column represents the 2nd vote

The choice will be more important, and, representative.

Another explanation below on the left column, the yellow and blue image in the example, there is a total of 59 points. The image is considered unique.

The image that received 135 points is retained. We removed the others to present the images more with 135, 98 and 105 points. These 3 images are variants.

For the 2nd vote (in the example) there are 10 completely different images.

A person may submit several different images. If you send 1 image with a starred circle which is a variant, you are allowed 3 images instead of 14 for the 2nd vote.

You can submit other example images: lines with curves, we will keep 3 maximum (for the 2nd vote).

A starry background with a grid etc.

With this egalitarian system everyone has a chance to get to the second vote.

Only the total number of points will indicate the number of images you will have in the 2nd vote, one, two or three.

Without these rules:

2 or 3 authors take 50% of all votes, and also to respect those who participate in the vote.

How will we do this if each person sends 10 to 15 identical images?

It is to keep this diversity that this rule is created.
