Hello Marja,

In the "Calenco access / Getting credentials" section you prompt people to read Translation with Calenco and xxe, but this page is deprecated since we don't translate any more with Calenco.

You are right, André, and we need to discuss about credentials, too.

To me it makes no sense to give credentials to people who translate, but don't have git access, because committing the new/updated .po to git along with the new .xml files generated from the new .po, should be immediately followed by importing the changed/new .xml files to git Calenco (thx for the correction, André). I propose to change the part about credentials as shown below

Sorry but I don't understand what you mean :o(

You said "should be immediately followed by importing the changed/new .xml files to git." to git or to Calenco ? In this case, credentials should be given for both Calenco and git, or neither one nor the other. --lebarhon 16:43, 7 November 2013 (UTC)

OOPS :-[

You're right, I should have said "Calenco", correcting it.
Maybe for all people who work on the Calenco files it should be either Calenco access + git access or neither the one nor the other. OTOH, it seems very hard for most of us to get SVN/git access to work, so maybe this is only a nice idea in theory, but one that won't work.

Calenco access

Getting credentials

If we don't manage to communicate well with you, for instance if we've seen that we don't manage to explain you well enough how to correctly contribute to the wiki, then we first need to find a way to improve our communication.

If that isn't a problem and if you have done all of the following:

  • For writers and English proofreaders:
  1. read How to write and translate Mageia doc#Write or update original doc
  2. successfuly written or edited some of our .xml files by yourself after which they were uploaded to Calenco.
    • (someone with Calenco access will download the needed .xml files for you, it is impossible to do that without credentials - please ask that person to lock the file and ask the same person to upload your new version)
  • For translators with git commit rights:
  1. read this page from How to write and translate Mageia doc#Translate an English doc untill the end of the page (so including How to write and translate Mageia doc#The script .22Check for translation works.sh.22
  2. successfully generated new or updated .xml files with the script in git, after the .po was updated
  3. pushed to git and found someone to upload the files to Calenco (ask yurchor, marja, or someone else with access to both git and Calenco)

then you can ask for credentials (a username and password) to access the Mageia Calenco repository.

The simplest way to get them is to send an e-mail to John at the address
"john At neodoc DOT biz" with a copy to
"marja11 AT xs4all DOT nl"
("AT" to be replaced by @ and DOT by ".").

This e-mail must include the following information:

  • Your full name (given name + surname)
  • The chosen nickname
  • The language(s) you are able to work with.
  • Your languages names in your own language or typeface so the language interface render correctly, eg. in this form: Greek ελληνικά [el] or Estonian Eesti [et]

Very important information for translators is often given on our mailing list doc-discuss@ml.mageia.org.

Losing them

If you never use your credentials to edit a file, or if you disappear and we don't manage to contact you, there is a grace period of 6 months. After that your Calenco account will be removed. Of course it will be possible to get them again for good reasons.
