Promote user

When a user has proven himself/herself as capable of additional responsibility, his/her account can be promoted to gain more privileges. This must be done before being able to add certain attributes to an account, like an SSH key.

User promotion

1. Log in to https://identity.mageia.org/ You must be a member of the Account Admins LDAP group to perform the remaining steps.
2. Click on the Account Admin link in the toolbar near the top.
3. Enter the username then click Search.
4. Click the username link that shows up on the left.
5. Choose the appropriate primary group for the user from the drop-down list, then click Promote. If the Promote link is not showing, the user has likely already been promoted. Just follow SOP Adding user to group instead.
6. Now, add the user to any additional groups necessary for the role, following the instructions on SOP Adding user to group (read the See also links there for information on what groups to use).

Promotion groups

For packagers, use mga-users as the primary group. For other users, TBD (but mga-users is probably fine).
