In Mageia 4.1, after fall back to "network" following those steps:

   # service networkmanager stop
   # cd /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts
   # mv ../ifcfg-* .
   # service network start 

And restarting the computer, it was necessary to set in ~/.net_applet -> "AUTOSTART = TRUE" to restore the applet icon in notifications area.
