Spying?

I think this proposal intend to do good. But, as written in proposal itself counting packages installation and send data to a outside world (even our beloved Mageia servers) is not good. Many users will dislike this and think that this is an action of spying. This is also bad for Magaia's reputation. I can see future articles that blaming us even from now.(See this for Ubuntu/Canonical example)

Also, statement that MageiaUpdate already doing this is simply wrong. Automatic updates don't send private data to servers, mgaupdate simply pulls hdlists from servers and compare installed packages with the retrived data and if it finds newer versions/releases it pulls them from servers.No data sending to server.
