Please correct me if I am in the wrong place, this is my first post here.
Since there is no restriction on distributing non-free, only the users philosophical, practical and security concerns, why can't distributing non-free be the default and then ask during installation whether or not to use it?
A description of non-free might be a revelation to some users, and far more encouraging than finding that things just don't work for no obvious reason.
