I'm pretty keen on this feature. I've manually switched to Network Manager on the last couple of versions of Mageia anyway.

If you do find time, then it would be great if you could help.
The 6sta1 Live ISOs had moved to Network Manager, but I have some vague memory that the 32bit 6sta2 XFCE iso that I tested did not use it.
Additional steps are still needed for traditional installer, anyway, see: bug 10269
