Detailed Description
We currently have mageia-gfxboot-theme which comes from the very first days of gfxboot development. It's all hacked and re-implements functionalities that are now managed by upstream code. Artwork integration is also quite a mess as the theme needs to be updated in different places. Finally the current gfxboot theme is buggy since the syslinux update to version 4.x.
So the goal here is to change all Mageia gfxboot theme packaging so that we use as much as possible the upstream implementation. It will need also some checks in the installer as the gfxboot screen is generated during install.
Why it would be good for Mageia to include it
- makes integration easier
- remove all home-made patches and follow upstream project
- makes easier the contributions for customized gfxboot themes
Test case
Software / Packages Dependencies
SRPMS: mageia-theme, drakx-installer-stage2, grub2
What could disrupt development of this new feature
Planning
Have it ready for alpha 1 release for first tests, depends on grub2 integration
Contingency
switch back to old version (which would be a pity)
