I have experience of HTML: my first web site was a small company Intranet in about 1994 on an ancient HP1000 mini computer. I got used to writing documentation in HTML and didn't really do much Javascript or anything fancy, although I happily took up CSS as soon as it became available.  I run my company's web site and wiki.

About SimonNZG

I work for a French software company.

Editing Experience

I write manuals in Mediawiki and train people how to use our software.

Other Experience

I have experience of HTML: my first web site was a small company Intranet in about 1994 on an ancient HP1000 mini computer. I got used to writing documentation in HTML and didn't really do much Javascript or anything fancy, although I happily took up CSS as soon as it became available.

First Distro

First Linux: Slackware. On floppies. 1994/5. Then Red Hat, then Mandrake, then Mandriva. I use Mageia (usually a Beta or RC) with KDE on my main home PC and LinuxMint LMDE on the little EeePC 1015PE netbook that follows me wherever I go. My servers at work mainly use Ubuntu Server or Debian if they're remote ones. Rolling distros are best if the server isn't easy to get at!

First anything? RSTS/E on a PDP11/70 back in the late 1970s. I had hair in those days!  :-)

Hobbies

A failed archaeologist, perpetual trainee photographer and an occasional radio amateur, which is where the "nzg" comes into my ID. (Radio Amateurs are known by their first name and part of their callsign, so that becomes "Simon 'NZG").

Wishlist

I would prefer to run a small hotel somewhere quiet (I like quiet) where I could get outside and ride my mountain bike or use the roller-skis that seem to sit in the back of my car and never get used. Maybe one day I will get to do that before I get *too* old!
