See Policies.

These are draft notes, to be improved. Nothing decided yet. --rda

See Art guide as well.

Basic rules:

  • Mageia.org owns exclusive rights over logo and name (hmmm with a libre license ?) what about debian trademarked logo and libre logo ? see http://www.debian.org/logos/ which is well explained)
  • All partnership request MUST come through Mageia.org association. (MUST or "MoSCoW Method" SHOULD ?
  • All official local community MUST come through Mageia.org association.
    • fr, es, de ? (should?) others ? (which ones ? pl, hk ro ? for which services wiki / blog / ML ?)

Authorized logo (and derivatives) and name use cases (by conditions to setup):

  • official publication (advertising, goodies, Web), release, projects, events, etc.
  • community uses:
    • local communities identity, e.g. francophony (french-speaking users or contributors)
    • local events (install party, monthly support through first-saturday^Wsamedi)
    • derivative products/projects (xfce ? community64 ?)
  • in software/applications uses (icons, backgrounds, start page, startup animation, etc.)
  • media, quotes (articles), parody, criticism (hey what about trolls rpm vs deb ?)
  • partners
  • Promotional use to be considered

TODO:

  • reinforce logo with additional content such as themes, icons, desktop customisation, fork in gnome-look.org and opendesktop compliance.
  • Refine the logo with versions for use in themes for the desktops similar to how linuxmint first customized look and feel and isnow rolling its own distro out in a rolling release way.
  • Inclusion of Non-oss software or not? are we taking the 100% libre route?
  • customization or creation of software specific to our UI guidelines and thus trademark policies for those.
  • good luck :)
