Easytether is a application that allows you to connect your Mageia Computer to your internet through your Android phone. This is useful for if you need to connect to the internet but don't have wifi or an ethernet cable.

How to install Easytether

To install easytether, you must first go to the website where it is hosted. http://www.mobile-stream.com/easytether/android.html After you have installed the Mageia package (Should be called easytether-0.8.9-1.mga6.x86_64.rpm).

Disabling Firewall

DISABLE FIREWALL IF YOU HAVEN'T ALREADY!!!

If you do not know how to do this, open up the Mageia Control Center, navigate to security, then Configure system security, permissions and audit, and finally click configure firewall. You should tick the top box labelled Everything (No Firewall). After that you are ready to set up Easytether.

Configure Easytether to connect to the internet

Open up your terminal emulator, and type in:

# ln -sf /etc/resolv.conf /run/systemd/resolve/resolv.conf

After doing that, you need to run

# nano /etc/resolvconf/resolv.conf.d/head

Then type at the end of the file: nameserver 192.168.117.1 Your document should look like the following:

# Dynamic resolv.conf(5) file for glibc resolver(3) generated by resolvconf(8)

DO NOT EDIT THIS FILE BY HAND -- YOUR CHANGES WILL BE OVERWRITTEN

nameserver 192.168.117.1

Next type in # resolvconf --enable-updates and resolvconf -u then reboot! Your system should now configure when you plug in your phone by USB!

Note: if it doesn't automatically connect, make sure easytether is turn on your phone and that you run # easytether-usb
