How to contact/join the team

To contact the Documentation team, you may use the following methods:

  • Mailing-list: doc-discuss@ml.mageia.org.
  • IRC channel: #mageia-doc on Freenode.
  • Team meetings: Monday, starting 17:00h or 18:00h UTC (but always 19.00h CET/CEST) on #mageia-doc (see meeting logs).
  • Team contact: Marja van Waes (marja) - marja11 AT xs4all DOT nl.
  • Leader, deputy leader, representative: See list below

To join the Documentation team, you only have to put your name on the list below, sign up to the mailing list and say 'Hi!'. We would also be happy if you could attend the team meetings (see third item in the list above).

Documentation process

Documentation team responsibilities

The documentation team has two main purposes:

  • The team is in charge of the end-user documentation in the wiki (the web team being in charge of the structure). We should also oversight the content from other teams (since most teams will have a dedicated area in the wiki) to make sure the wiki stays coherent and clean.
  • We should also produce an official end-user documentation to be included in Mageia releases.

Current work

The documentation team is still looking for more members. If you think you can contribute in any way, please join us on the mailing list!

  • The Doc Team is currently working on making sure the Wiki is up-to-date as well as getting to grips with the XML-based Master Mageia Documentation set, which is stored on a Calenco server and will be used to build user documentation about Mageia in various formats.
  • Discussions about the wiki structure and content as well as Mageia Master Documentation set happen on the docteam's mailing list.

Resources

You may want to have a look at the: Calenco user's guide or the Mageia Calenco handbook for maintaining Mageia Documentation using Calenco.

Translating

The easiest method is Translation with Calenco and xxe, the downside is that it is hard to see which changes there were to the original text.

Translation with Calenco and Gettext takes more time to learn, but in the long run it saves time because you'll know exactly what changed and needs to be translated.

Members

Please add yourself to this list if you are willing to contribute to the documentation team. If it is possible, please write your Nick (Mageia username [the one your registered on identity.mageia.org ]), name, e-mail address and what you want to do in the team. Please do this in alphabetical order by the nick. Thx!
