Bug Triage
Bug Triage is a process related to Bugzilla's bug reports and means:
- close reports that are obviously about invalid, duplicate or won't fix bugs
- make sure the remaining reports are treated correctly
For bugs
- See to it they are dealt with in the correct order: seeming release blockers and high priority bugs first
- Ensure bug report completeness (ask for missing information, when needed)
- Improve the summary, if needed
- Change component if needed
- Fill out the RPM package field, when applicable
- For upstream bugs add the upstream bug report's URL to the URL field of our report, if applicable
- Set appropriate bug priority and severity
- Set blocks or depends on, when needed
- CC the appropriate person or team when you're not sure how to fully triage the bug and ask him/her to continue the triage
- When all is done, assign to the correct person or team to solve the bug
For package requests
- Set the summary to "package name", <short summary of what it's for>
- Make sure component is "New RPM package request"
- Fill out the RPM package field
- Set severity to "enhancement"
- Make sure the upstream link to the package is in the URL: field
For backport requests
- Set the component to "Backports"
- Fill out the RPM package field
