  • the Welcome and First steps tabs haven't the same layout. The menus could have the same look --lebarhon 14:38, 3 September 2013 (UTC)
  • the Newcomers How To link doesn't work, and the links New features and Releases notes are the same --lebarhon 14:38, 3 September 2013 (UTC)
  • In First steps / 2 Configure media .... the Note looks like a button but isn't and the 2 buttons don't say which password they are asking to (it isn't the same) --lebarhon 14:38, 3 September 2013 (UTC)
  • In First steps / 3 Install and .... same comments than above and the Run terminal command doesn't work. --lebarhon 14:38, 3 September 2013 (UTC)
  • The Apps tab has yet another layout. But it is fine and lovely, the two other tabs could have the same.--lebarhon 14:38, 3 September 2013 (UTC)
  • [FIXED] Why not Firefox in the Internet section ?--lebarhon 14:38, 3 September 2013 (UTC)
  • Good job, congratulations --lebarhon 14:38, 3 September 2013 (UTC)
  • [FIXED]The link Support - Wiki could be Support - Documentation on wiki. It should refers to Category:Documentation -- papoteur
  • the checking of the software already installed seems to be not well functional.-- papoteur
  • the list of useful software can include the standard software already choosen by the distribution, not only these are not included by default.
  • Ability to select multiple packages for installation and to install all selected with one click --napcok 12:06, 6 September 2013 (UTC)
  • The Apps tab text should perhaps make it clear that these are suggestions and not the total software available with Mageia.--isolde 19:47, 9 September 2013 (UTC)
  • I think to help newcomers it should state in the Apps tab that more software can be installed by choosing Install & Remove Software from the main menu or from MCC, not just by running rpmdrake in a terminal.--isolde 19:47, 9 September 2013 (UTC)
  • I believe the first step prior to media setup or any other after user/pass creation should be network and hostname configuring.--pete910 22:40, 11 September 2013 (UTC)
  • Just 2 small suggestions from forum user benmc: on the MCC page some text near the MCC launcher to advise "Administrator password is needed" and near the "Check system updates" launcher "user password is needed". -- 8:52:37, 1. October 2013
  • About MageiaWelcome 0.7_1, I think two menus are one too much. Let's be simple. Moreover, in the second menu there are 5 lines, line 2 about MCC and lines 3 and 4 about tools that are parts of the MCC, it is confusing. I suggest:
    • A top menu with - Welcome - MCC - Apps -
      • Welcome menu is fine (12 buttons, no submenu)
      • MCC menu with the most important text from the lines 2, 3 and 4 plus 6 buttons, URPMI in command line isn't for newcomers (they come from Windows!)
      • Apps menu is fine.

This is a nice idea. Immediate reactions:
- After clicking any button, which raises a Firefox window, the Welcome window *stays on top*. Should not the focus be to the Firefox one?
- "Suggestions for MageiaWelcome":
-- A warning that you need to be a registered Mageia user to be able to comment; that you need to log in before being able to edit the page.
-- Takes you to a Wiki page which itself has another link to this one. Should you not jump straight *here*?
- For the "Show this window at startup" checkbox, I think you should say *how to get it back* if you choose to hide it.

- Put on the "More" page, the presentation of Mageia for beginners. See here. The shape of the buttons and text content may be different, perhaps a summary (a short text): --macxi 14:29, 6 October 2013 (UTC)

Suggestions for the Welcome text in the first screen

I like what is being said here, I would just like to suggest some small changes to the English in the main paragraph.

I would suggest: "We have put in a lot of effort to provide you with the best possible system. However, nothing in this world is perfect and this distribution is no exception, so we would appreciate any contribution you can make to it." --isolde

This text has not yet my complete agreement. For the first message to our user, we said that Mageia is not perfect. I do not consider the contrary, but I think that this is not needed to say at first. Yes, we want that the user becomes a contributor. Thus yet my suggestion

"We have put in a lot of effort to provide you with the best possible system. We hope you will have a good experience with Mageia. If you feel that our project is a good idea, we would also appreciate any contribution you can make to it for next versions." --papoteur
