About
libtaglib is a library to read/manipulate metadata in sound files, e.g. mp3, ogg vorbis, flac - for a complete list check this page. Metadata is additional information about a song, like "artist", "title" and the like.
libtaglib is used by a variety of programs to read/write metadata, among which the most known ones are amarok, clementine, juk and vlc. For a complete list use the following command:
$ urpmq --whatrequires libtaglib1
How to test
Before updating the package
Open any of the aforementioned audio programs, then write down the metadata of a selection of songs (about 5-10 should be sufficient). Close the program.
After updating the package
- Open the program again, perform a complete import of your music collection (not just an update/refresh!). Compare the metadata to the one written down before - it should match.
- Change the metadata of any song, close the program. Open a (preferably a different) audio program, perform a complete import of your music collection. The songs metadata should reflect your change.
