Note: Unfortunately, we discovered we cannot use the Mandriva 2005 LE documentation either, because we cannot make it available with a cc by-sa 3.0 or similar licence. We have re-started from scratch end of March 2012, but do still use Calenco |
This page is about the work-in-progress migration of the old Mandriva documentation to Mageia. This is done by the documentation team. The base that is used for the Mageia documentation is the Mandriva documentation from Mandriva 10.2 (also known as 2005 Limited Edition) which was produced by NeoDoc for Mandriva, because that is the latest version allowing us to reuse the existing documentation, due to license and copyright issues with the later versions.
The web-based system we will use to work on this documentation is called Calenco Everyone working on this migration should shortly receive credentials for the read/write instance of Calenco that we will use. The Calenco server is at: Calenco, make yourselves familiar with it. Please, in the meantime, don't make changes in the content until we've established which components we intend to use.

Timeframe
As of 1/12/2011, we want to get the documentation for the installer ready by the end of December/ beginning of January, to be able to integrate it into Mageia 2 Alpha3, which is to be released on 12 Jan 2012, so we will get thorough testing in the earlier stages of the Mageia 2 development process. This gives us enough time to fix any issues before Beta 2 or the Release Candidate are released. Mageia 2 development planning

John Rye (JohnR) and Simon Parsons (simonnzg) will help with getting used to Calenco, and will start to clean up old obsolete documentation.
Oliver Burger (obgr_seneca) will contact the relevant developers who know about the installer and see about reenabling the help buttons in the installer and how to get from the finished documentation in Calenco and import it into Mageia SVN to produce the needed Mageia documentation packages.

Using the test wiki
If there is a reason you can't edit the calenco documentation, and you'd like to do something, you can use our old test wiki to work on the text for the help pages for the help buttons in installer. If you do so, please add those pages to the Mageia installer category
If you'd rather work on something else, it is also possible to work on the manual about installing Mageia. Please use the Installing Mageia category for seperate pages you make for that manual
