Synopsis: If your device is using Intel Rapid Storage Technology, RST (default for many new devices), Mageia installer can not operate unless you disable RST in UEFI/BIOS setup. |
![]() |
Here be dragons! Disabling RST without the following steps will make your Microsoft Windows (R) installation unbootable. |
Symptom
Error message "io super block error" (FIXME : to be verified and expand description)
Solution
- Boot your Microsoft system and using msconfig, in the boot tab, configure it as fail safe boot.
- Restart your Microsoft system and confirm that boots in fail safe mode.
- Restart the device and go to the EFI/BIOS settings.
- In the hard drive options (maybe this is different in every EFI/BIOS setup) change from RST to AHCI.
- Start your Microsoft system and leave working until the desktop appears.
- Using msconfig again, remove the failsafe booting.
- Start your Microsoft system normally and from this point you can install Mageia.
