Detailed Description

Combine the two main Installers Live & Classic. Essentially Live, but with all the installation choices currently offered by Classic.

Why it would be good for Mageia to include it

The current setup of two different Installers causes a *lot* of work & problems during pre-release production & testing. Each one has its own development & maintenance. Each one gives rise to its own flavour of problems, specific to its derived ISOs. They have different capabilities. It is simply a situation which currently duplicates all these aspects; this duplication would be eliminated.

Automatically the number of ISOs needing to be produced and tested would be reduced: less work, better testing.

Putting the effort in now would save a lot of work later for ISO builders and QA testers. And simplify life for the eventual public who are faced with bizarre choices like Live for specific heavyweight desktops, non-live for more interesting choices which cannot be tried in advance. Everyone would gain.

What could disrupt development of this new feature

Disagreements about detailed aspects of it. Technical problems. Manpower.

Planning

It would have to be fully implemented *before* entering the pre-release cycle.

Contingency

Stay with the current Installers and their resulting ISOs.
