Jovie
Jovie is no more available
Festival
It provides a better experience with the voice. It is available only in English, what I found.
After installation of the package festival, it does not work with jovie.
I added these lines to the end of new created .festivalrc file. It seems that it can be also added to /usr/share/festival/festival.scm:
(Parameter.set 'Audio_Required_Format 'aiff) (Parameter.set 'Audio_Method 'Audio_Command) (Parameter.set 'Audio_Command "paplay $FILE --client-name=Festival --stream-name=Speech")
I edited also /etc/speech-dispatcher/speechd.conf to uncomment
AddModule "festival" "sd_festival" "festival.conf"
Svox Pico
Svox is a tool coming from Android world. But it can be used with Linux. The Speech-dispatcher v 0.8 (already in cauldron/mga4) has a module to use it.
svox-pico is now in Mageia repositories (since Mageia 5).
